Yesterday, I was involved in the launch of a pilot project to see if a relaunch of Gemini News Service might be feasible.
In essence, the project aims to get correspondents in the developing world to write the stories that nobody else is writing, and that won’t be seen without support for local writers.
Our class worked closely with a number of reporters from Africa to produce this website. It contains some truly unique stories (there’s actually a comedy scene in Mali, for example).
I’d urge you all to check it out — you’ll for sure see something you haven’t seen in the New York Times.
